Heiðarbær is located between Húsavík and Mývatn, on highway no. 87, 20 km from Húsavík. Heiðarbær offers a well-located camping site as well as designated areas for caravans, caravans, and mobile homes. The campsite has play areas and mini golf, and the adjoined restaurant offers a wide range food, wine, coffee, and light refreshments. Heiðarbær has a swimming pool with a hot tub, open daily in June, July, and August from 11:00 – 21:00.
Heiðarbær in Reykjahverfi is well located for those who want to see the eastern part of the North-Iceland, while also wanting to relax after a day of exploring in a quiet environment. It is close to some of the most popular tourist destinations in the area such as Mývatn, Goðafoss, Ásbyrgi, Jökulsárgljúfur and Laxá í Aðaldal. It is also an ideal place to stay for anglers in nearby fishing rivers.
Húsavík, only 15 minutes away by car, has a lot to offer, a whale watching hub during the summer months, it also offers interesting museum (we especially recommend the Whale Museum) and offers many interesting sights. The Húsavík’s popular town festival, Mærudagar, is held during the last weekend of July.
