The camping site in Bíldudalur is located down by the ocean, next to the Bylta Sports Cente. It is equipped with toilet facilities, hot and cold water, electricity and waste disposal facilities for campervans, and garbage disposal. The Sports Centre has good shower facilities, washing machines and dryers, and a hot tub.
Bíldudalur offers a variety of activities, from the unique Icelandic Sea Monster Museum to the music to the music museum Melodies of Memories (is. Melódíur minninganna). There are many beautiful and interesting locations all around the area that are worth visiting, such as Selárdalur, home to artist Samúel Jónsson who was said to have the heart of a child, and farmer Gísli in Uppsalir who lived in near isolation. In Hrafnseyri you will find a culture centre that is home to an exhibition about Jón Sigurðsson, the leader of the 19th century Icelandic independence movement.
The nature in the area is magnificent, offering a myriad of possibilities to explore, either on your own or through organised tours: shorter and longer hikes, bus trips, sailing and sea angling. Nearby is one of Iceland‘s most beautiful waterfalls, Dynjandi in Arnarfjörður, Reykjafjörður has a swimming pool and a warm nature pool, Rauðisandur beach (the Red Sands) by Breiðafjörður, Europe’s biggest bird-cliff Látrabjarg, Hnjotur Civilisation Museum (is. Minjasafn Egils Ólafssonar) in Örlygshöfn, as well as beautiful seashell beaches all around.
