The Fjalladýrð tourist service in Möðrudalur valley is located midway between Lake Mývatn and the town of Egilsstaðir on road 901, offering guests various services in a quiet environment. The area is renowned for its beautiful view with the “Queen of Icelandic Mountains”, Herðubreið, in the leading role. The restaurant Fjallakaffi offers uniqe local lamb and reindeer dishes. Artic char from the mountain lakes and rivers of the area is also worth a try as well.
The campsite is equipped with all the conveniences a camper might need, whether pitching a tent or parking an RV. We offer helicopter tours from Möðrudalur over the Holuhraun area, as well as Askja and Kverkfjöll. Möðrudalur is only 60 km from the erupting volcano Holuhraun, which was last active two years ago. We also offer jeep tours and hiking in the natural northern highlands, for example on Herðubreið mountain, in Askja and Herðubreiðarlindir nature reserve area and on the Kverkfjöll mountain range.
