Bakkafjörður Campground

Bakkafjörður is a small fishing village located in the northern part of Iceland, near the remote and beautiful Langanes peninsula. The campsite is centrally positioned in the village and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and coastline. The area is spacious and peaceful, making it an ideal stop for travellers seeking a quiet getaway in nature. It is also well suited for larger family or friends’ gatherings.

Facilities at the campsite include toilets, showers with hot and cold water, electricity, and a cooking counter. A playground and an air trampoline provide entertainment for children.

Just next to the pier you will find a restaurant and café.

Bakkafjörður is a convenient base for exploring the natural highlights of North and East Iceland. The village lies along the scenic coastal route between Húsavík and Vopnafjörður, forming part of the Arctic Coast Way that continues towards Akureyri. Major attractions such as Stuðlagil canyon, Bustarfell turf farm and the Arctic Henge are all within reach. Digranesviti lighthouse can be reached by a scenic 45-minute hike, and the beautiful swimming pool in Selárdalur is about a 20-minute drive from Bakkafjörður.

The campsite is operated locally and welcomes visitors travelling through this remote and beautiful part of North Iceland.
