Sandfellsskógur

The camping site in Sandfellsskógur is a cosy site nestled in a forested area.

There’s plenty of space between the trees for tents, camper vans, families and playful spirits. The area has picnic tables with built-in seats. A small creek named Króklækurinn, or the Hook Creek, runs through the area opening up to adventures for the small ones.

There are facilities offering toilets, outdoor sinks and hot/cold water.

Stóra-Sandfell travel services are located in the valley of Skriðdalur, or about 17 km. south of Egilsstaðir or close by route 95 that is half way from Höfn í Hornafirði on the way to Egilsstaðir when you take the Öxi mountain road. The services offer a camping site or acommodation in small cabins or rooms.

Stóra-Sandfell travel services offer horse riding and in the area you can find amazing hiking trails. Stóra-Sandfell is close by most of the most interesting sights that East Iceland has to offer.
